La yerba mate es un árbol perenne de la familia de las aquifoliaceae, originario de las cálidas zonas subtropicales de Sudamérica. Los indígenas de Paraguay fueron los primeros en preparar una deliciosa bebida con sus hojas secas, rica en cafeína, antioxidantes y micronutrientes. Es una bebida común en Sudamérica y ahora está ganando popularidad a nivel mundial como alternativa al café, ya que aporta energía, quema grasa y reduce el colesterol.
Sus fragantes flores blancas florecen a finales de otoño y principios de invierno, y en primavera se transforman en brillantes bayas ornamentales de color rojo. Sus hojas, gruesas y coriáceas, se pueden cosechar y secar en cualquier época del año, cuando el follaje ha alcanzado su plenitud. Alcanza los 15 metros de altura en exterior y también se puede cultivar en maceta, tanto en interior como en exterior.
La yerba mate crece a pleno sol o sombra parcial en suelos ricos, francos y bien drenados que nunca se secan. Prefiere condiciones cálidas y húmedas y es resistente en las zonas USDA 8 a 11.

Good solution. The little flies have disappeared. We were sure to mist/moisten the surface of each plant once a day for 4 or 5 days, after the initial application of the nematodes, to keep the little guys mobile and able to get to any remaining eggs. So, go for it!

My new babay arrived safely and only lost two little leaves so far. The first one I ordered from different shop arrived with two leaves attached that fell off within ten minutes of unboxing and 22 leaves that had came off during shipping. So glad she arrived looking as beautiful as i was hoping. Also had a surprise red arrow syngonium cutting that’s beautiful. Also customer service was amazing. Will definitely order from them again.
