El pepino dulce, conocido científicamente como Solanum muricatum, es un pequeño arbusto perenne perteneciente a la familia de las solanáceas, que incluye tomates y berenjenas. Esta planta es originaria de las regiones andinas templadas de Sudamérica y se cultiva por su fruto dulce, parecido al melón.
El pepino dulce suele alcanzar una altura de entre 30 y 90 cm y se extiende como un arbusto. Tiene hojas simples, grandes y ligeramente peludas, similares a las de las tomateras. El follaje es de un verde vibrante, creando un exuberante telón de fondo para las flores y los frutos de la planta.
Las flores del pepino dulce son pequeñas y azules, parecidas a las de otras solanáceas, con forma de campana. Sin embargo, lo más destacable de la planta es su fruto. Los frutos son ovalados o alargados, midiendo entre 10 y 15 cm de largo. Su piel es lisa, con una coloración que va del verde pálido al amarillo, con rayas o manchas moradas al madurar. La pulpa interior es jugosa, dulce y aromática, con reminiscencias de una mezcla entre melón y pepino.
El pepino dulce prospera en climas templados y sin heladas, y prefiere suelos fértiles y bien drenados. Es relativamente fácil de cultivar, lo que lo convierte en una opción popular para huertos familiares en climas propicios. Los frutos se suelen consumir crudos y son apreciados por su sabor y textura refrescantes. Se utilizan a menudo en ensaladas de frutas, postres o como aperitivo. El pepino dulce no solo es apreciado por su delicioso fruto, sino también por sus cualidades ornamentales, con su atractivo follaje, flores y frutos de patrones únicos.

Good solution. The little flies have disappeared. We were sure to mist/moisten the surface of each plant once a day for 4 or 5 days, after the initial application of the nematodes, to keep the little guys mobile and able to get to any remaining eggs. So, go for it!

My new babay arrived safely and only lost two little leaves so far. The first one I ordered from different shop arrived with two leaves attached that fell off within ten minutes of unboxing and 22 leaves that had came off during shipping. So glad she arrived looking as beautiful as i was hoping. Also had a surprise red arrow syngonium cutting that’s beautiful. Also customer service was amazing. Will definitely order from them again.
