La planta Lágrima de Job es una gramínea tropical originaria del Sudeste Asiático y se ha naturalizado en Sudamérica y el Caribe. Pertenece a la familia de las gramíneas y el arroz (poáceas). Sus hojas ornamentales, anchas, crecen erguidas y se arquean en sus extremos. En las estaciones cálidas, produce largas y hermosas espigas de grano que se hinchan formando magníficos cordones de semillas que parecen perlas o lágrimas. Este singular grano se suele describir como similar a la cebada tanto en tamaño, color y forma.
La planta se autosiembra anualmente y es perenne en la costa este y en climas más cálidos. Produce un follaje con una textura excelente, lo que la convierte en una excelente planta para setos. También es ideal para cultivar en macetas, alcanzando fácilmente alturas de 1,2 a 1,8 metros. Es mejor plantar las Lágrimas de Job durante la temporada de lluvias, en primavera (¡ahora mismo!). Las espigas brotarán y estarán listas para una cosecha abundante a medida que el clima se vuelva más seco.
Las Lágrimas de Job tienen varios usos comestibles, principalmente como grano de cereal. En Asia se usa comúnmente para elaborar alcohol de grano, que suele endulzarse y combinarse con especias. También se puede elaborar una bebida similar a la horchata con sus granos. Medicinalmente, se sabe que el salvado tiene propiedades anticancerígenas. Los granos de la planta, con forma de guisante, tienen un orificio natural que facilita su ensartado. Son resistentes a la humedad y duraderos, y se utilizan a menudo para hacer collares y rosarios debido al simbolismo añadido de su forma de lágrima.

Good solution. The little flies have disappeared. We were sure to mist/moisten the surface of each plant once a day for 4 or 5 days, after the initial application of the nematodes, to keep the little guys mobile and able to get to any remaining eggs. So, go for it!

My new babay arrived safely and only lost two little leaves so far. The first one I ordered from different shop arrived with two leaves attached that fell off within ten minutes of unboxing and 22 leaves that had came off during shipping. So glad she arrived looking as beautiful as i was hoping. Also had a surprise red arrow syngonium cutting that’s beautiful. Also customer service was amazing. Will definitely order from them again.
