El árbol de yaca, un gran árbol frutal perenne originario de la India, es conocido por producir la fruta más grande del mundo. La parte exterior de la yaca es dura y texturizada. La cáscara está compuesta de piezas compuestas que se adhieren a una pulpa amarilla y carnosa con una textura similar a la del cerdo desmenuzado. Cuando está maduro y sin abrir, el yaca puede oler un poco desagradable, pero al abrirlo huele y sabe a chicle de piña.
En promedio, una yaca pesa alrededor de 16 kg, pero en su clima nativo, ¡se ha reportado que pesa más de 45 kg! La yaca no solo tiene una apariencia y un sabor increíblemente únicos, sino que también es una rica fuente de vitaminas, minerales, fitonutrientes, carbohidratos, electrolitos, fibra, grasas y proteínas. Contiene calorías, pero no colesterol ni grasas saturadas. Debido a su textura, se usa a menudo como sustituto vegano de los sándwiches de cerdo desmenuzado. La fruta sobrante se puede congelar para preparar batidos saludables o preparar diversos productos, salsas o incluso papas fritas.
Artocarpus heterophyllus es el nombre científico de la yaca, perteneciente a la familia de las higueras y pariente de la morera. Es originaria del suroeste del subcontinente indio y es la fruta nacional de Bangladesh y Sri Lanka. La yaca crece principalmente en climas tropicales de tierras bajas y puede producir entre 100 y 200 frutos al año al madurar.

My new babay arrived safely and only lost two little leaves so far. The first one I ordered from different shop arrived with two leaves attached that fell off within ten minutes of unboxing and 22 leaves that had came off during shipping. So glad she arrived looking as beautiful as i was hoping. Also had a surprise red arrow syngonium cutting that’s beautiful. Also customer service was amazing. Will definitely order from them again.
