La chaya serrada, también conocida como espinaca mexicana o espinaca de árbol, es una planta perenne de hoja verde rica en nutrientes, originaria de México y Centroamérica. Esta variedad presenta hojas profundamente lobuladas y serradas que no solo son ornamentales, sino también muy comestibles una vez cocinadas, ofreciendo un sabor rico y terroso similar a la espinaca, pero con mucha más proteína, hierro, calcio y antioxidantes.
Cultivada durante siglos como planta alimenticia y medicinal, la Chaya Serrada prospera en climas cálidos y soleados, lo que la convierte en una hortaliza ideal para jardines subtropicales y tropicales. Puede alcanzar una altura de 1,8 a 3 metros, formando un arbusto frondoso y erguido que responde bien a la poda y la cosecha. Cuanto más se corta, más produce, lo que la convierte en una de las hortalizas perennes más productivas que se pueden cultivar.
A diferencia de algunos tipos de chaya, esta variedad, que no pica, es fácil y segura de manipular. Solo recuerda: las hojas deben cocinarse antes de consumirse para neutralizar las toxinas naturales, de forma similar a como se prepara la yuca. Una vez ligeramente hervida, la chaya se convierte en una verdura tierna y rica en nutrientes que querrás incluir en sopas, salteados, tortillas y caldos durante todo el año.

Good solution. The little flies have disappeared. We were sure to mist/moisten the surface of each plant once a day for 4 or 5 days, after the initial application of the nematodes, to keep the little guys mobile and able to get to any remaining eggs. So, go for it!

My new babay arrived safely and only lost two little leaves so far. The first one I ordered from different shop arrived with two leaves attached that fell off within ten minutes of unboxing and 22 leaves that had came off during shipping. So glad she arrived looking as beautiful as i was hoping. Also had a surprise red arrow syngonium cutting that’s beautiful. Also customer service was amazing. Will definitely order from them again.
