Bovine blood meal fertilizer 13-0-0 is a highly effective organic fertilizer derived from the dried and powdered blood of cattle. It is rich in essential nutrients and serves as an excellent source of nitrogen for plants. The numbers 13-0-0 in the fertilizer's N-P-K ratio represent its nutrient composition, with 13% nitrogen and no phosphorus or potassium.

Key features of blood meal fertilizer 13-0-0:

  • High Nitrogen Content: With a nitrogen content of 13%, this fertilizer provides a significant boost to plants' growth and development. Nitrogen is essential for the formation of proteins and chlorophyll, promoting lush green foliage and strong stems.
  • Organic Fertilizer and Sustainable: Bovine blood meal is a natural byproduct of the meat industry, making it an eco-friendly and sustainable fertilizer option. It helps reduce waste by repurposing animal blood into a valuable plant nutrient.
  • Slow Release: This fertilizer releases nitrogen slowly over time, providing a consistent and long-lasting source of nutrition for plants. It minimizes the risk of nitrogen leaching into groundwater and ensures a steady supply of nutrients for optimal plant health.
  • Improved Soil Quality: In addition to its nutrient content, bovine blood meal also contributes to improving soil structure and microbial activity. It enhances soil's ability to retain moisture and nutrients, promoting overall soil health.
  • Versatile Application: Blood meal fertilizer can be used for a wide range of plants, including vegetables, flowers, shrubs, and trees. It is particularly beneficial for nitrogen-hungry plants like leafy greens and corn.
  • Safe and Non-Burning: When used as directed, this fertilizer is safe for plants and won't cause nitrogen burn, a common issue with some synthetic fertilizers. It allows for precise nutrient management without harming your garden.
  • Organic Gardening: Bovine blood meal fertilizer is a popular choice among organic gardeners and farmers, as it aligns with organic farming principles.

In summary, blood meal fertilizer 13-0-0 is a natural, sustainable, and nutrient-rich option for promoting healthy plant growth. Its high nitrogen content, slow-release properties, and compatibility with organic gardening practices make it a valuable choice for enhancing the productivity and vitality of your garden or farm.

Application Rate:

General Application Rate:

For established garden beds or vegetable gardens: Apply 2 to 4 pounds of bovine blood meal fertilizer per 100 square feet of garden area. This can be broadcast evenly over the soil surface.

Vegetable Gardens and Annual Plants:

For specific crops like tomatoes, peppers, or corn: Apply 1 to 2 tablespoons of fertilizer per plant. You can mix it into the soil around the base of each plant or apply it as a side-dressing.

    Flower Beds and Perennials:

For flowering plants and perennials: Apply 1 to 2 tablespoons of fertilizer per plant, similar to vegetable gardens. Be sure to spread it evenly around the root zone.

      Trees and Shrubs:

For trees and shrubs, particularly larger ones: Apply 1 to 2 cups of bovine blood meal fertilizer around the drip line (the area under the outermost branches). Gently work it into the soil surface and water thoroughly.

        Container Plants:

When using bovine blood meal fertilizer in pots or containers, mix 1 to 2 teaspoons of fertilizer per gallon of potting soil before planting. You can also use it as a top-dressing for potted plants by sprinkling a small amount on the soil surface.

One Acre (Agricultural or Large-Scale Application):

For larger areas like one acre of farmland or gardens, you'll need to calculate the amount of fertilizer needed based on your specific crop requirements and soil conditions. As a general guideline, you might start with an initial application of 100 to 200 pounds of bovine blood meal fertilizer per acre. However, it's crucial to perform a soil test to determine the exact nutrient needs for your specific crop and location. Soil tests provide precise recommendations for fertilizer rates and can prevent over-fertilization or nutrient imbalances.

Remember that these rates are general guidelines, and the actual application rate may vary depending on factors such as soil type, crop type, and specific nutrient requirements. Always refer to soil test results or consult with a local agricultural extension office for tailored recommendations for larger-scale applications like one acre.
