El árbol de cuentas negras es un arbusto o árbol pequeño familiar, originario del sur de Florida, los Cayos, Centroamérica y el Caribe. Sus vistosas flores, de color blanco rosado, florecen desde el invierno hasta la primavera y, para el verano, se transforman en vainas verdes y espirales. Al madurar y secarse, las vainas se tornan marrones y se abren, revelando arilos comestibles de color rojo brillante con semillas negras. Pertenece a la familia Fabaceae, la familia de las leguminosas.
El árbol de Cuentas Negras alcanza una altura de 2,4 a 4,5 metros, con múltiples troncos y una copa ancha e irregular. Sus hojas perennes y coriáceas, sus coloridas flores y frutos lo convierten en un atractivo árbol de acento, una pantalla o un seto para el jardín. También es una excelente protección para la fauna silvestre. Las abejas y mariposas nativas visitan las flores en busca del néctar, y las aves se alimentan de los arilos rojos. Las semillas negras se pueden secar y usar como cuentas para collares, de ahí su nombre.
Este pequeño árbol crece a pleno sol en suelos calizos o arenosos con buen drenaje. Se considera una especie amenazada en Florida y es resistente en las zonas USDA 9+.

Good solution. The little flies have disappeared. We were sure to mist/moisten the surface of each plant once a day for 4 or 5 days, after the initial application of the nematodes, to keep the little guys mobile and able to get to any remaining eggs. So, go for it!

My new babay arrived safely and only lost two little leaves so far. The first one I ordered from different shop arrived with two leaves attached that fell off within ten minutes of unboxing and 22 leaves that had came off during shipping. So glad she arrived looking as beautiful as i was hoping. Also had a surprise red arrow syngonium cutting that’s beautiful. Also customer service was amazing. Will definitely order from them again.
