Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata) is a tropical fragrance whose scent comes from cascading rings of yellow flowers. It is a worldwide pop culture staple, famously serving as a key note in Chanel No. 5, the first perfume launched by Coco Chanel in 1921. When blooming, its invigorating, jasmine-like scent lingers, and even experienced perfumers cannot perfectly match the natural aroma of a Ylang Ylang in bloom.
Growing Ylang Ylang requires climate conditions found in tropical Asia. In the right climate, Cananga odorata can grow up to 60 feet tall, and it can be pruned back to control growth and harvested often for its scented flowers. Fruit and flower production begin within two years of growth. Flowers are best harvested once fully mature, when they deepen to a golden yellow, and at night, when they emit the most fragrance. Flowers can be used aesthetically or to make ylang ylang essential oil. Cananga odorata bears black, mild-tasting berries that are used in traditional Asian medicine for headaches, digestive issues, itching, and more.

My new babay arrived safely and only lost two little leaves so far. The first one I ordered from different shop arrived with two leaves attached that fell off within ten minutes of unboxing and 22 leaves that had came off during shipping.
