Introducing the Venus flytrap Dionaea muscipula 'Southwest Giant' — a live plant shipped in a 2.5" pot, with young specimens about 2–3" across. The plant's traps have nectar on the inner walls to attract insects, and a central trichome that triggers closure when stimulated. The edges of the traps feature interlocking cilia that help prevent escape. After capture, enzymes digest the prey, leaving only the exoskeleton, and this process can take up to ten days. Some plants may be greener than others, and Venus flytraps are dormant during winter (Oct-Feb/Mar). If shipped during dormancy, plants will be smaller but come back stronger and bigger in spring/summer. You will receive 1 similar plant to the ones in the pictures (not the same plant), shipped with First class mail. Comes with care instructions.

Care essentials include full sun, peat & perlite or pure peat as the potting medium, and feeding with fish food or bugs every 3–4 weeks. Water the plant using the tray method and maintain humidity between 50% and 85%. Temperature should be 65–80°F in spring and summer and 35–55°F in colder months. Mature plant size depends on care, and the plant undergoes winter dormancy with reduced watering.
