Stratiolaelaps scimitus is a predatory mite that lives in the top half inch of soil and helps prevent and control fungus gnats by feeding on their eggs and larvae. It also targets certain thrips pupae (Western flower thrips) and some shore fly eggs and larvae that pupate in the soil or on the ground.
Apply them as soon as you receive them; soil should be moist but not wet before release, then keep the soil moist and avoid chemical pesticides that can harm the predators. The mites are safe for humans and pets and can be used in organic farming. Available packaging includes 1 liter bottles (BW-SS25, BW-SSN) and 5 quart buckets (BW-SSBK, BW-SSGN), all registered for use in the USA.

My new babay arrived safely and only lost two little leaves so far. The first one I ordered from different shop arrived with two leaves attached that fell off within ten minutes of unboxing and 22 leaves that had came off during shipping.
