Red Mammoth Fodder Beet for Livestock Feed has been grown since medieval times to provide winter forage for livestock. These beetroots deliver nutritious animal feed and are well-liked by hogs, cows, horses, and goats.
Beetroots can weigh up to 20 pounds each, and yields of up to 50 tons per acre have been recorded. The crop originated in the Mediterrenean region, with later cultivation in Germany and Holland for cattle fodder, before being imported to England and, later, to the New World.

- Growth details: each beet seed holds up to 8 actual seeds; seedlings should be thinned to 3 inches apart; uprooted plants can yield a second crop, but transplanting sets them about two weeks behind; avoid bruising when weeding; plants prefer cool weather and can survive temperatures down to 25F.
- Harvest and edible parts: beets and tops are edible and tender when harvested at less than 3 inches in diameter; after pulling, twist off tops about 1 inch up the stem to prevent bleeding; up to one third of the greens can be harvested without harming the plant; this variety yields lush greens.
- Use and suitability: best suited for animal feed.

The first one I ordered from different shop arrived with two leaves attached that fell off within ten minutes of unboxing and 22 leaves that had came off during shipping.
