Purple Hydrangea Seeds are hardy perennials that are easy to grow and maintain. Carefully selected for a high germination rate, these seeds help you enjoy a bountiful display of purple hydrangea blooms. They’re ideal for adding color to your garden or for use in cut flower arrangements.
Sowing options include direct sowing in spring—pressing seeds into the soil surface, as they need light to germinate—and keeping soil moist until germination, typically within 10–14 days. To start indoors, place several seeds together in individual peat pots and keep the soil moist in indirect light. The plant requires consistent moisture, tolerates very moist soil that drains well, but may drop foliage in drought. It adapts well to clay soil and to shallow or rocky areas. Deadhead spent blossoms to prolong blooming. In good conditions, it may spread rapidly by suckers; remove the suckers to prevent it from becoming weedy. Cut back the plant to 8-10 inches during winter or early spring dormancy. For harvesting, cut long stems of just-opened flowers and place them in water immediately, stripping leaves below water; these stems also dry well when bundled and hung upside down in a warm, dark place with good ventilation until dry.
