Ponkan Mandarin Tree (Citrus poonensis), also known as the Chinese Honey Orange Tree, is one of the oldest and most beloved mandarin varieties. It originated in China and is now widely grown in citrus groves around the world. It is prized for its exceptionally sweet flavor, easy-to-peel skin, and juicy, seedless flesh. Ponkan Mandarins are perfect for fresh eating, juicing, and adding a burst of natural sweetness to your favorite recipes. In Chinese culture, Ponkan Mandarins symbolize wealth, good fortune, and gold, and are commonly exchanged as gifts during the Chinese New Year.

Fruits are medium to large, with a deep orange, slightly flattened shape, smooth, thin skin that is easy to peel, and tender, juicy flesh that is sweet and mildly tangy. They are typically seedless or have very few seeds. The tree features glossy, dark green evergreen leaves with a pleasant citrus scent when crushed. Ponkan Mandarin trees are compact and bushy, typically growing 10-12 feet tall, suitable for small gardens or container growing. They are prolific producers, often yielding an abundant harvest in late fall to winter.
