Azadi is a soft-seeded pomegranate cultivar from Iran, one of the ancient homelands of pomegranate cultivation. It produces large, glossy fruits with blush-pink to pale red skin and arils that range from translucent to light-pink. The seeds are tender and melt-in-your-mouth, delivering a sweet, mild flavor with very low acidity. Azadi is highly productive and drought-tolerant once established and is well suited for fresh eating, juicing, and desserts. The name 'Azadi' means 'freedom' in Persian.
Plant Azadi in full sun for optimal flowering and fruit production. It prefers well-drained loamy or sandy soils and can tolerate alkaline conditions. Provide regular watering during establishment and dry periods, but allow the soil to dry between waterings. Prune annually in late winter to open up the canopy for better airflow and fruit size. Azadi can handle brief dips into the upper teens (°F) and is well-suited for zones 7b–10; in colder zones, it can be grown in containers and overwintered indoors. Propagation is typically done by hardwood cuttings.

My new babay arrived safely and only lost two little leaves so far. The first one I ordered from different shop arrived with two leaves attached that fell off within ten minutes of unboxing and 22 leaves that had came off during shipping.
