Pinguicula mesophytica from Cerro El Pital, Honduras, is a perennial hemiepiphytic carnivorous plant in the butterwort family. Native to the mountain regions of northern Central America (Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador), the epithet mesophytica comes from Greek mesos meaning middle and phyton meaning plant. The plants pictured are representative; you will receive a similar plant. Plants are not flowering at the moment. They are shipped bare root in a plastic container to protect them, and shipments go out on Mondays and Wednesdays to avoid weekend delays. The plant is about 1" in diameter.
Care and cultivation: Light from a sunny windowsill or grow lights such as T5 or LED; Potting medium is sphagnum moss; Water: keep soil moist; Humidity: 50-80%; Temperature: 55-85°F; Mature plant size: 2-3" (depending on care); Dormancy: None, nevertheless, plant may go into a succulent state during Winter (depending on temperatures). For winter transit, a heating pack is strongly recommended; one heating pack per order is enough to protect plants from cold during shipping.
