Pinguicula medusina is a perennial butterwort that produces glandular carnivorous leaves in summer and a subterranean bulb in winter. It grows on gypsum hills at Laguna Encantata, about 3 km north of Santiago Juxtlahuaca in Oaxaca, Mexico. Discovered by Alfred Lau in 1977 and given species status in 2000, it is closely related to Pinguicula heterophylla and can propagate from small plantlets formed at leaf ends on gypsum soil.
Plants ship bare root in a plastic container for protection and are sent on Mondays and Wednesdays to avoid weekend cut off. Size ranges from 0.4 to 2 inches in diameter depending on phase; mature plants reach 2–3 inches. A heating pack is recommended in winter (1 per order).
