Pinguicula "Leilani" is an in-house hybrid between P. laueana and P. cyclosecta, named to honor a beloved niece. The plants pictured are representative; you will receive a similar plant, and they are not flowering at the moment. Current plants measure about 0.75–1 inch in diameter, with mature size typically 1.5–2 inches depending on care. They have been growing under LED lights with daytime 75–80°F and nighttime 55–70°F, and some plants are greener but will turn purplish under intense light. Plants are shipped bare root in a plastic container to protect them, and orders ship on Monday and Wednesday to avoid weekend cut-off.
Light-friendly placement includes a sunny windowsill, or using T5 or LED lights. Potting medium is Mexican Pinguicula mix. Feeding occurs every 3–4 weeks with fish food or bugs. Keep the soil moist and humidity between 50% and 80%. Temperature should stay between 55–85°F. The mature plant size is 1.5–2 inches, and there is no true dormancy, though it may enter a succulent state in winter depending on temperatures. It is strongly recommended to include a heating pack during winter to protect the plant from low transit temperatures; one heating pack per order is enough.
