Pinguicula esseriana Buena Vista is a perennial, heterophyllous butterwort that forms winter rosettes during winter and broader, non-succulent leaves in summer. This specimen grows a bit larger than the regular esseriana. The plants in the photos are representative; you will receive a similar plant, and they are not flowering at the moment. Some plants stay greener, but intense light can turn them purplish.
Plants are shipped bare root in a plastic container to protect them and are sent on Mondays and Wednesdays to avoid weekend cutoffs. They measure about 0.5–0.75 inches in diameter. They have been grown under LED lights with daytime temperatures around 75–80°F and nights near 55–70°F. Heating packs are strongly recommended in winter; one per order is enough. Use Mexican Pinguicula mix, provide bright light (sunny windowsill, T5, or LED), keep soil moist, and maintain 50–80% humidity with temperatures between 55–85°F. Mature size is about 0.75 inches, depending on care. Dormancy is none, but a succulent state may occur in winter depending on temperatures.
