Passion Flower Passiflora Vine Maypop Seeds are an exotic perennial vine that can be grown almost anywhere. Climbing shoots can reach 9 feet, and the plant features fragrant flowers that attract butterflies. It is ideal for fences, arbores, windows, balcony boxes and flowerpots on the terrace of the house. Seed counts are approximate due to the small size of the seeds, and seeds should be stored in a cool and dry place.
Germination can be slow, from 2 weeks to several months. Seed preparation is essential: lightly rub one or both sides of the seeds with fine sandpaper; soak them in lukewarm water for 48 hours, changing the water after 24 hours; do not use seeds that float. Sow 2-3 seeds inch deep in a pot filled with a moist organic, sterile seed-starting mix; cover with ventilated plastic to keep humidity; place on a heat mat at 75F in a spot with indirect sunlight; keep the soil slightly moist. Upon germination remove the plastic. Remove the heat mat after the 3rd set of true leaves appears. Transplant outdoors in the sunny spot once they are 6 inches high. Space 36-60 inches apart. Keep the soil moist. Support the plant with trellis.
