Organic Black Truffle Japanese Tomato Seeds
The Organic Black Truffle Japanese Tomato Seeds produce a mid-season, semi-determinant tomato variety. The fleshy fruit is pear-shaped, brownish-red, with a great sweet taste. The fruits transport well and stay fresh for a long time, and the variety is suitable for fresh consumption. It can be grown from seedlings or by sowing seeds in the soil.
For planting, start seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the average last spring frost date and choose a site with full sun and well-drained soil. In northern regions, aim for at least 6 hours of sunlight; in southern areas, light afternoon shade helps tomatoes thrive. Two weeks before transplanting outdoors, dig soil to about 1 foot deep and mix in aged manure or compost. Harden off transplants for a week before planting, beginning outdoors in the shade and gradually increasing sun exposure. Transplant after the last spring frost when the soil is warm. Place tomato stakes or cages at planting time, and space transplants about 2 feet apart. Pinch off a few of the lower branches and plant the root ball deep enough so the remaining lowest leaves are just above soil. If transplants are leggy, bury up to 2/3 of the plant, including the lower leaves, as buried stems can grow roots.
