Malabar Spinach Plant (Basella alba) is a beautiful multi-colored, fast-growing edible annual (or short-lived perennial) climbing vine native to Southeast Asia and India. Its leaves are rich in vitamins, thick and succulent like spinach with a little more flavor and crisp.
Its stem is vibrant red and its blooms are pastel pink. Malabar Spinach is heat-loving and drought-tolerant, growing well in sandy soil and needing very little nutrients. As a summer green, it provides an alternative to spinach and other leafy greens and is considered an essential plant in food forests or permaculture gardens. We plant it under fruit trees and along fence lines for a tropical, ornamental look.

My new babay arrived safely and only lost two little leaves so far. The first one I ordered from different shop arrived with two leaves attached that fell off within ten minutes of unboxing and 22 leaves that had came off during shipping. So glad she arrived looking as beautiful as i was hoping. Also had a surprise red arrow syngonium cutting that’s beautiful. Also customer service was amazing. Will definitely order from them again.
