Jocote Tree, also known as Yellow Hog Plum, or Caja Fruit tree, is a fast-growing tropical/subtropical deciduous fruit tree native to tropical America. It belongs to the Anacardiaceae family and is related to mangoes and cashews. This humidity-loving tree forms a spreading, dense canopy of compound leaves that drop in winter, then blooms with small white flowers followed by edible fruits.
Petite yellow fruits have single-seeded interiors with a leathery skin and a sweet, acidic pulp. Unripe fruits can be pickled and eaten like olives; when sweetened, Jocote is drunk as cider in Guatemala. In Amozonas, Vinho de Taperiba, or wine of Jocote, is produced. The wood suits carpentry; young leaves can be added to salads or sautéed; the tree also serves as a living fence post. Folk medicine cites traditional uses as laxative, digestive aid, or sore throat remedy.

My new babay arrived safely and only lost two little leaves so far. The first one I ordered from different shop arrived with two leaves attached that fell off within ten minutes of unboxing and 22 leaves that had came off during shipping. So glad she arrived looking as beautiful as i was hoping. Also had a surprise red arrow syngonium cutting that’s beautiful. Also customer service was amazing. Will definitely order from them again.
