Job's Tears plant is a tropical grass native to Southeast Asia and has naturalized in Southern America and the Caribbean. It belongs to the Poaceae family. Its wide ornamental blades grow upright and arch at their ends, and long spikes of grain form in warm seasons, swelling into strings of seeds that resemble pearls or tears.
The grain is described as resembling barley in size, color, and form. The plant self-seeds annually and is a perennial in warmer climates along the East Coast. It provides textured foliage for hedges and adapts well to containers, reaching 4 to 6 feet tall. It is best to plant Job's Tears during the rainy season, in Spring, and grain heads will sprout and be ready for harvest as the weather becomes more dry.

My new babay arrived safely and only lost two little leaves so far. The first one I ordered from different shop arrived with two leaves attached that fell off within ten minutes of unboxing and 22 leaves that had came off during shipping.
