Japanese Catnip is a flowering medicinal herb native to Eastern Asia, where it has a long history in traditional herbal medicine as an aromatic cold remedy. It is also called Jing Jie or Schizonepeta and belongs to the Lamiaceae family, related to mint and oregano. It is not a true catnip that attracts cats.
The plant is a fast-growing upright shrubby herb that produces highly fragrant purple flower spikes in late summer. In traditional medicine, the aerial portions are purportedly used to treat inflammation from dermatitis and eczema. Its green buds can be used as a pediatric sedative. The herb is most commonly sun-dried and rid of impurities before ingesting.

My new babay arrived safely and only lost two little leaves so far. The first one I ordered from different shop arrived with two leaves attached that fell off within ten minutes of unboxing and 22 leaves that had came off during shipping.
