Glass Gem Corn Seeds Organic Heirloom Variety is a decorative flint corn with rainbow translucent kernels that shimmer like gemstones, ranging from deep blues to pale pinks. While prized for ornamental appeal, the kernels are edible and can be used to make cornbread, hominy, grits, or popcorn. The variety grows 6-9 feet tall and produces ears 3-8 inches long. It thrives in full sun on well-drained soil and is easy to grow for gardeners of all levels. Plant in rows with adequate spacing and water consistently; mulching helps retain soil moisture.
Key growing details include soil temperature 70-85°F, planting depth 1 inch, germination 4-12 days, height at maturity 6-9 feet, days to maturity 110-120 days, sun/shade Full Sun, spacing after thinning 8 inches, and approximately 50 seeds per pack. This variety was developed by Carl “White Eagle” Barnes, a Cherokee farmer, and the Pawnee miniature, a small and multicolored corn, played a crucial role in its development.

My new babay arrived safely and only lost two little leaves so far. The first one I ordered from different shop arrived with two leaves attached that fell off within ten minutes of unboxing and 22 leaves that had came off during shipping.
