Farmight Chick Brooder Heater Plate, Adjustable provides heat for chicks by warming them on contact rather than the entire brooder, reducing the risk associated with traditional heat lamps, which can cause fires. The heater keeps chicks content and quiet beneath the plate and is offered in three sizes with specific dimensions: Small Heater 10" x 10" warms up to 15 chicks; Medium Heater 12" x 16" warms up to 20 chicks; Large Heater 18" x 26" warms up to 60 chicks. The plate is height-adjustable from 1.5" to 6" to fit chicks as they grow, and each heater includes a 6-foot plug-in cord.
Usage details: Unlike a traditional heat lamp, this heater warms chicks on contact; position the plate just above their heads. If chicks move toward the edges, raise the height by pressing the corner buttons and adjusting each leg. The design supports raising both large fowl and bantams together by allowing halves of the plate to be set at different heights, enabling birds to self-select heat. Before arrival, plug in the plate 1 hour ahead to warm up. A nightlight is recommended so birds can find their way back under the heater at night. The unit’s thermostat controls the on/off cycling, so heat duration varies with ambient cold or warm locations.

My new babay arrived safely and only lost two little leaves so far. The first one I ordered from different shop arrived with two leaves attached that fell off within ten minutes of unboxing and 22 leaves that had came off during shipping.
