The Dwarf Waimanalo Papaya is a compact papaya plant, typically growing to 6-8 feet tall, making it ideal for small spaces. Fruits weigh about 1-3 pounds and have a yellow to orange skin when ripe. Inside, the pulp is vibrant orange, juicy, and slightly musky, with the center containing numerous small, black, gelatinous seeds.
It is typically grown from seeds and prefers a sunny location with well-drained, fertile soil. It requires a tropical or subtropical climate with regular watering and is relatively easy to grow. It does not tolerate frost and is suitable for USDA hardiness zones 10-12. Maintenance is lightweight, with little pruning; removing the top encourages branching and easier harvest. The fruits are consumed fresh or used in cooking, and the unripe green fruit can be cooked and eaten like a vegetable. My new babay arrived safely and only lost two little leaves so far. The first one I ordered from different shop arrived with two leaves attached that fell off within ten minutes of unboxing and 22 leaves that had came off during shipping. So glad she arrived looking as beautiful as i was hoping. Also had a surprise red arrow syngonium cutting that’s beautiful. Also customer service was amazing. Will definitely order from them again.
