Dragon's Tongue and Purple Heirloom Bush Bean

Dragon's Tongue is a Dutch heirloom bush bean defined by bright yellow pods adorned with vivid purple streaks that create a striking contrast in garden beds. These waxy pods remain strictly stringless, providing a clean eating experience without needing to remove fibrous threads. The variety delivers an early harvest that allows growers to access fresh produce promptly while maintaining continuous production. The plant supports robust yields, making it a practical choice for home gardens seeking efficient space usage alongside exceptional visual appeal.

When prepared raw, the purple markings stay fully visible, making Dragon's Tongue a standout addition to crisp salads and fresh platters where the color drama can shine. Heat treatment causes the streaks to fade, revealing the underlying yellow pod structure suitable for cooked dishes without affecting the sweet, mild wax bean taste. Tender enough to eat snap-style straight from the vine, this versatile bean bridges the gap between ornamental garden interest and everyday kitchen utility. Its combination of aesthetic uniqueness, flavorful pods, and dependable maturation timing satisfies grower standards for both beauty and productivity.
