Detroit Dark Red Beet seeds offer a classic heirloom flavor with reliable performance. It is a fine mid-season heirloom with a rich, dark-red interior and a uniform 3" diameter. An early variety, Detroit Dark Red beets store well and are also good for canning and freezing. The dark-green leaves, striped with red, are wonderful braised or in salads. One beet has about 35 calories and is high in folic acid.

My new babay arrived safely and only lost two little leaves so far. The first one I ordered from different shop arrived with two leaves attached that fell off within ten minutes of unboxing and 22 leaves that had came off during shipping.
