Desert Willow Tree Seeds – Chilopsis linearis (Cav.) Sweet. Desert-willow is a 15-40 ft., slender-twigged tree or large shrub, often with a leaning, twisting trunk and an open, spreading crown. Leaves are deciduous, willow-like, light green, 4-12 inches long and about 1/3 inch wide, arranged alternately or oppositely. The funnel-shaped flowers are 1-1.5 inches long, with 5 lobes, dark pink or purple and often with white or yellow and purple streaks in the throat, borne in terminal racemes. By early autumn, violet-scented blossoms give way to slender seedpods 6-10 inches long that persist on the branches.
Desert-willow is drought-tolerant and adapted to desert washes, best with just enough water to keep blooming and green through the warm months. It is native to USA (south-central Texas) and Mexico (Nuevo Leon, Zacatecas), west to southern California and Baja California. Many cultivars exist with varying flower colors and leaf sizes. It belongs to the Bignoniaceae family and is related to catalpa trees, Tecoma stans, and Campsis radicans.

My new babay arrived safely and only lost two little leaves so far. The first one I ordered from different shop arrived with two leaves attached that fell off within ten minutes of unboxing and 22 leaves that had came off during shipping.
