Deluxe pente is a fast-moving game of skill for 4 players. It resembles checkers in ease of learning, but it offers the tactical depth of tic-tac-toe and chess. The game originated in the 1970s. Players win by placing five stones in a row or by capturing five pairs of an opponent’s stones. Stones of the same color align vertically, horizontally, or diagonally to form five-in-a-row, while you capture by flanking pairs in any direction. The game supports several variations for greater challenge.
This new four-player version includes a roll-up pente game board with rubber backing, four sets of colored glass stones (blue, green, clear and amber), four cloth drawstring stone storage bags, and illustrated instructions. Ages 8+. A match ends when a player reaches the designated points total (usually 21) across games, and a single game ends when a player makes four-in-a-row or four captures.
