Dark Purple Opal Basil is a visually striking herb with rich, deep purple leaves and an aromatic, slightly spicy flavor. This basil variety, Ocimum basilicum 'purpureum', is as beautiful as it is versatile—ideal for salads, garnishes, and infused oils—and also well suited for ornamental use. It thrives in full sun and well-draining soil, growing up to 18 inches tall and performs well in garden beds, containers, or edible landscaping.
Its red-purple foliage provides color when used as a garnish or seasoning, and its leaves carry a sweet, anise-like taste. The plant produces lavender flowers, enhancing ornamental plantings. This annual heirloom basil prefers a soil temperature of 75–85°F, a planting depth of 1/4 inch, and germinates in 5–10 days. Days to maturity range from 75 to 90, with a mature height of 12–24 inches and thinning spacing of 8–10 inches.

My new babay arrived safely and only lost two little leaves so far. The first one I ordered from different shop arrived with two leaves attached that fell off within ten minutes of unboxing and 22 leaves that had came off during shipping. So glad she arrived looking as beautiful as i was hoping. Also had a surprise red arrow syngonium cutting that’s beautiful. Also customer service was amazing. Will definitely order from them again.
