Cortland Onion Seeds Organic with Large Bulbs is a Biennial, F1 Hybrid developed from Prince and Copra for longer storage. It produces large, orange-yellow bulbs with thick skin and a uniform, round shape about 3–4 inches in diameter. The onions have a sweet, mild flavor and a crisp texture, making them ideal for fresh eating, slicing, or cooking. They mature in about 100–110 days and are known for resistance to disease and bolting, with bulbs that store well for several months.

Grow Cortland in full sun on well-draining, moderately moist soil. Sow seeds indoors in flats in early spring or outdoors as soon as the soil is workable, covering seeds with 1/4 inch of fine soil. Maintain 6"–18" between rows; when seedlings reach 4 inches tall, thin or transplant 6 inches apart. Thinnings can be eaten like green onions, and seed heads should be cut as they form. For harvest, bend the tops, remove the bulbs and let them stay in the ground until the leaves brown; lift, braid the tops, and hang in the shade to dry for at least 7 days; store in a ventilated, cool, dry area. Germination takes 4–10 days; planting depth is 1/4"–1/2"; plants reach 2'–3' tall, with days to maturity of 105–110.
