Calamondin Tree Citrus Hybrid for Small Ornaments

Calamondin Tree (Citrus × Citrofortunella microcarpa) is a compact citrus hybrid prized for its small, tangy fruits and year-round ornamental appeal. A cross between a kumquat and a mandarin orange, it features glossy evergreen leaves and a compact form. Originating in Southeast Asia, particularly the Philippines, this variety thrives in containers and makes a striking addition to patios, gardens, or indoor spaces.

Leaves are glossy, dark green, evergreen, and lightly aromatic. Fruits are marble-sized with thin, smooth skin that turns bright orange when ripe; the flesh is juicy and highly acidic with a tart-lime flavor, and the fruit is packed with seeds, with the entire fruit—including the skin—usable. Widely used in Southeast Asian cuisine, particularly Filipino dishes, as a souring agent or flavor enhancer; its juice suits marinades, dressings, sauces, and beverages, and the fruit can be candied, made into marmalades, or used as a garnish. The tree’s compact size and year-round beauty make it a popular ornamental plant for indoor and outdoor spaces.
