Bloody Dock plant, or Red-Veined Dock, is an edible perennial grown for colorful foliage and as a zesty salad green. Native to Europe, southwest Asia, and northern Africa, it has naturalized in parts of the U.S. and Canada. The rosette reaches about 18 inches in height and width, with lance-shaped leaves marked by bright reddish-purple veins, making it suitable for borders, containers, or a pond edge.
Young leaves have a tart, lemony flavor and can be eaten raw or cooked like spinach. Only young foliage should be eaten; older leaves are tougher and bitter. It has antiseptic and astringent properties and is high in vitamins A and C. Flower spikes reach 2–3 feet in late spring to early summer with copper-colored blooms; they are usually removed to encourage a bushier rosette and prevent self-seeding. It grows best in full sun and tolerates partial shade in rich, moist, well-draining organic soil, including pond edges; hardy in zones 4–8 but can be grown as an annual.

My new babay arrived safely and only lost two little leaves so far. The first one I ordered from different shop arrived with two leaves attached that fell off within ten minutes of unboxing and 22 leaves that had came off during shipping.
