American Flag Leek Seeds Organic Heirloom is a classic heirloom variety known for thick, tender stalks and a mild, sweet onion flavor. To grow American Flag Leeks, start seeds indoors 6–8 weeks before last frost, then transplant about 6 inches apart roughly two weeks before the last frost. Keep soil well-drained and rich in organic matter, and bury stems to keep them bright white. Days to maturity are about 130, and there are approximately 100 seeds per pack. Leeks can be harvested fresh and over-wintered in milder climates when heavily mulched; they perform well in full sun and are delicious in soups, stir-fries, and stews.
