Variété ancienne. Cet oignon jaune est une variété de jour long qui prospère dans les États de l'Ouest. Il est particulièrement adapté aux climats de la côte ouest et du centre-nord des États-Unis. Ses gros bulbes, pesant plus de 450 grammes, se conservent bien. Cet oignon espagnol est relativement facile à cultiver et tolère modérément la pourriture rose des racines. L'oignon est un légume rustique de climat frais qui peut être semé directement en pleine terre 6 à 8 semaines avant les dernières gelées printanières ou environ 4 à 6 semaines avant les premières gelées automnales. Il est également possible de démarrer les semis à l'intérieur pour une levée plus précoce. Le sol doit être bien travaillé, riche en azote, avec un pH de 6,0 à 7,0. Semez à 6 mm de profondeur. Les oignons de jour long poussent mieux dans la moitié nord du pays, tandis que les oignons de jour court prospèrent dans la moitié sud.
