Le pépino dulce, de son nom scientifique Solanum muricatum, est un petit arbuste vivace appartenant à la famille des Solanacées, qui comprend également les tomates et les aubergines. Originaire des régions andines au climat doux d'Amérique du Sud, il est cultivé pour son fruit sucré, semblable à un melon.
Le pepino dulce atteint généralement une hauteur de 30 à 90 cm et s'étale en formant un buisson. Ses feuilles simples, grandes et légèrement velues ressemblent à celles des tomates. D'un vert éclatant, elles forment un écrin luxuriant pour ses fleurs et ses fruits.
Les fleurs du pepino dulce sont petites et bleues, semblables à celles des autres Solanacées, et ont une forme de cloche. Cependant, l'aspect le plus remarquable de cette plante est son fruit. Les fruits sont ovales ou allongés, mesurant environ 10 à 15 cm de long. Leur peau est lisse, avec une coloration allant du vert pâle au jaune, striée ou tachetée de violet à maturité. La chair est juteuse, sucrée et aromatique, évoquant un mélange de melon et de concombre.
Le pepino dulce prospère dans les climats doux et sans gel et préfère un sol fertile et bien drainé. Relativement facile à cultiver, il est très apprécié dans les jardins potagers des régions au climat adapté. Ses fruits se consomment généralement crus et sont appréciés pour leur saveur et leur texture rafraîchissantes. On les retrouve souvent dans les salades de fruits, les desserts ou comme en-cas. Le pepino dulce est non seulement apprécié pour ses délicieux fruits, mais aussi pour ses qualités ornementales : son feuillage attrayant, ses fleurs et ses fruits aux motifs uniques en font un arbre idéal.

Good solution. The little flies have disappeared. We were sure to mist/moisten the surface of each plant once a day for 4 or 5 days, after the initial application of the nematodes, to keep the little guys mobile and able to get to any remaining eggs. So, go for it!

My new babay arrived safely and only lost two little leaves so far. The first one I ordered from different shop arrived with two leaves attached that fell off within ten minutes of unboxing and 22 leaves that had came off during shipping. So glad she arrived looking as beautiful as i was hoping. Also had a surprise red arrow syngonium cutting that’s beautiful. Also customer service was amazing. Will definitely order from them again.
