Le poivre long ( Piper longum ) est une épice unique et ancestrale, dont l'histoire remonte à plus de 3 000 ans. Originaire d'Asie du Sud, il était autrefois plus prisé que le poivre noir pour sa saveur intense et complexe, mêlant des notes terreuses, épicées et sucrées. Ce poivre est utilisé à la fois comme épice culinaire et comme plante médicinale dans les médecines traditionnelles ayurvédique et chinoise, où il est reconnu pour ses propriétés digestives, anti-inflammatoires et immunostimulantes.
Caractéristiques distinctives, utilisations et valeur médicinale
Fruits : Le poivre long produit de petits fruits cylindriques ressemblant à de minuscules chatons. Ces fruits mesurent environ 2,5 à 5 cm de long et sont recouverts de minuscules graines. Une fois séchés, ils dégagent une saveur épicée et piquante, plus intense et complexe que celle du poivre noir, avec des notes sucrées et terreuses. Le poivre long est souvent utilisé dans les mélanges d’épices, les conserves et les sauces ; moulu ou râpé, il apporte une touche de saveur audacieuse aux plats.
Feuilles : La plante possède des feuilles vertes brillantes en forme de cœur, qui dégagent un arôme lorsqu’on les froisse. Ces feuilles apportent également une valeur ornementale aux jardins.
Port : Le poivre long est une plante grimpante vivace qui peut atteindre 3 à 4,5 mètres de hauteur avec un support. Il prospère dans les climats chauds et tropicaux et est souvent cultivé pour ses usages culinaires et médicinaux.

Le poivre long est riche en composés bioactifs, notamment la pipérine, qui possède de puissantes propriétés anti-inflammatoires, antioxydantes et digestives. En médecine ayurvédique traditionnelle, le poivre long (appelé « Pippali ») est utilisé pour favoriser la santé respiratoire, améliorer la digestion et stimuler le métabolisme. On lui attribue la capacité d'améliorer l'absorption des nutriments et la circulation sanguine. Good solution. The little flies have disappeared. We were sure to mist/moisten the surface of each plant once a day for 4 or 5 days, after the initial application of the nematodes, to keep the little guys mobile and able to get to any remaining eggs. So, go for it!

My new babay arrived safely and only lost two little leaves so far. The first one I ordered from different shop arrived with two leaves attached that fell off within ten minutes of unboxing and 22 leaves that had came off during shipping. So glad she arrived looking as beautiful as i was hoping. Also had a surprise red arrow syngonium cutting that’s beautiful. Also customer service was amazing. Will definitely order from them again.
