La citronnelle est une graminée gracieuse formant des touffes, aux longues feuilles fines et arquées. Vivace dans les régions tropicales et subtropicales, elle est cultivée comme annuelle sous les climats plus froids. Il existe plusieurs espèces de citronnelle, mais la plus couramment utilisée est la citronnelle (Cymbopogon citratus), très parfumée et originaire d'Asie du Sud-Est.
La citronnelle est une plante aux multiples vertus. Appréciée pour ses propriétés insectifuges, notamment contre les moustiques, ses huiles essentielles entrent dans la composition de désinfectants et de produits nettoyants. Riche en fer, en calcium et en vitamine C, elle est largement utilisée en médecine traditionnelle pour traiter les troubles digestifs, l'hypertension et faire baisser la fièvre. En médecine ayurvédique, la citronnelle est employée comme antioxydant, anti-inflammatoire et antifongique.
Son essence douce et citronnée est un arôme très apprécié dans la cuisine asiatique, et la tisane de citronnelle est utilisée pour soulager l'anxiété et la douleur, et favoriser un sommeil paisible. De plus, le parfum frais de citron de son huile essentielle entre dans la composition de produits d'aromathérapie, de savons et de parfums.
Cette belle graminée est également cultivée comme plante ornementale, atteignant 60 cm de haut et 90 cm de large, en plein soleil ou à mi-ombre, dans un sol limoneux, humide et riche en matière organique. On peut la récolter toute l'année ; elle est rustique dans les zones USDA 9 à 11, mais peut être cultivée comme annuelle d'été sous des climats plus frais. La citronnelle se prête aussi très bien à la culture en pot !

Good solution. The little flies have disappeared. We were sure to mist/moisten the surface of each plant once a day for 4 or 5 days, after the initial application of the nematodes, to keep the little guys mobile and able to get to any remaining eggs. So, go for it!

My new babay arrived safely and only lost two little leaves so far. The first one I ordered from different shop arrived with two leaves attached that fell off within ten minutes of unboxing and 22 leaves that had came off during shipping. So glad she arrived looking as beautiful as i was hoping. Also had a surprise red arrow syngonium cutting that’s beautiful. Also customer service was amazing. Will definitely order from them again. Hoghly recommend this shop.
