Le caroubier, aussi connu sous le nom de « pain de saint Jean », est un arbre à feuilles persistantes à longue durée de vie de la famille des Fabaceae, apparenté au pois papillon et au haricot lablab. Originaire du Moyen-Orient, cette plante développe un feuillage plumeux de feuilles vert foncé et coriaces au sommet d’un tronc à l’écorce torsadée et brun rougeâtre. Comme leurs feuilles brûlent lentement, beaucoup cultivent le caroubier comme coupe-feu.
Des grappes de fleurs rouges et unisexuées se développent en automne, attirant les abeilles et les mouches par leur parfum musqué. Pour être pollinisé, le caroubier a besoin d’un deuxième arbre de sexe opposé pour produire des gousses. Ces gousses deviendront brun brillant et fibreuses, avec des graines qui claquent lorsqu’elles sont mûres!
Leur utilisation principale est culinaire. Besoin d’un substitut au chocolat? Essayez la pulpe sucrée et ressemblant à des haricots du caroubier, qui a des propriétés gustatives similaires à celles du cacao, moins la théobromine, qui peut provoquer des migraines. Mangez-la telle quelle ou réduisez-la en poudre!

Good solution. The little flies have disappeared. We were sure to mist/moisten the surface of each plant once a day for 4 or 5 days, after the initial application of the nematodes, to keep the little guys mobile and able to get to any remaining eggs. So, go for it!

My new babay arrived safely and only lost two little leaves so far. The first one I ordered from different shop arrived with two leaves attached that fell off within ten minutes of unboxing and 22 leaves that had came off during shipping. So glad she arrived looking as beautiful as i was hoping. Also had a surprise red arrow syngonium cutting that’s beautiful. Also customer service was amazing. Will definitely order from them again.
