La courge calabaza, également appelée courge des Antilles, est une courge tropicale appartenant à la famille des Cucurbitacées. Originaire des Antilles, d'Amérique centrale et d'Amérique du Sud, elle est devenue populaire dans les climats tropicaux et subtropicaux du monde entier grâce à sa capacité d'adaptation et à sa croissance vigoureuse. Cette plante grimpante vigoureuse s'étend au sol ou peut être palissée sur des supports, ce qui la rend polyvalente pour l'aménagement des jardins.
Cette plante produit de grandes feuilles larges, en forme de cœur et légèrement velues, qui forment un tapis vert luxuriant au jardin. Ses fleurs, d'un jaune vif et assez grandes, attirent les pollinisateurs comme les abeilles. Les fruits de la courge calabaza présentent une grande variabilité de forme et de taille, mais ont généralement une structure arrondie et légèrement côtelée. Leur couleur peut aller d'un vert foncé à un orange éclatant, ou un mélange des deux, avec souvent une peau lisse ou légèrement bosselée.
La courge calabaza est appréciée pour sa chair sucrée, de couleur orange à jaune, plus épaisse et plus dense que celle des autres courges, ce qui la rend idéale pour les soupes, les ragoûts et les desserts. Sa chair est non seulement savoureuse, mais aussi riche en vitamines A et C, ainsi qu'en fibres et en potassium. Ses plants sont robustes et résistants à de nombreux ravageurs et maladies, bien qu'ils prospèrent mieux dans un sol bien drainé et en plein soleil. Cette courge arrive à maturité environ 95 à 110 jours après la plantation, selon le climat et les conditions de culture.

Good solution. The little flies have disappeared. We were sure to mist/moisten the surface of each plant once a day for 4 or 5 days, after the initial application of the nematodes, to keep the little guys mobile and able to get to any remaining eggs. So, go for it!

My new babay arrived safely and only lost two little leaves so far. The first one I ordered from different shop arrived with two leaves attached that fell off within ten minutes of unboxing and 22 leaves that had came off during shipping. So glad she arrived looking as beautiful as i was hoping. Also had a surprise red arrow syngonium cutting that’s beautiful. Also customer service was amazing. Will definitely order from them again.
